Overview

The incline dumbbell press primarily targets the upper pectoral muscles..

Steps
  • 1. Lay on an incline bench with a thirty degree angle.

  • 2. Hold a dumbbell in each hand. Position the dumbbells outside your torso and in line with your upper chest. Your palms are facing away from you and your feet are firmly planted on the floor.

  • 3. Smoothly press the dumbbells upward and inward, forming a triangular arc. Just before the dumbbells touch at the top, slowly resist their descent back to the starting position.

  • 4. Do not lock out your elbows or pause at the top. Also, avoid resting the dumbbells on your chest or bouncing at the bottom.
