Overview

A delicious , low calorie and low fat, savory porridge for any time of day. Feel free to play with different grains and garnishes. Tasty add ins are mushrooms, spinach, chestnuts, seaweed, and left over cooked meats/fish if you like. Add these in at the same time as the miso paste. Get creative. Serve with some pickles.

Ingredients
dry-short grain rice

2 Ounce

dry- barley grain

0.25 Ounce

water

6x the weight of grains

10 Ounce

ginger

grated

1 Tablespoon

miso paste

1 Tablespoon

egg

beaten

1 Whole

Recipe Steps
  • 1. add grains to pot add water- 6x the weight of rice- 60g of rice = 360g water bring to a simmer and cover for 15 min stir and add ginger simmer 5 min stir and add miso paste and any additional items that need minimal cooking, i.e. spinach, mushroom, etc. simmer 5 min turn off heat and fold in beaten egg let sit for 5 min season with soy sauce and garnish with scallions
